Corrections Policy

At GMSSSKAS (referred to as “GMSSSKAS” / “We” / “Us” / “Our”), we are committed to ensuring the accuracy of the information published on our website. This Corrections Policy outlines the steps we take to address and correct any errors found in our content. We value transparency and accountability to our readers and take full responsibility for making corrections and informing you as soon as possible.

Premise

GMSSSKAS strives to provide accurate and comprehensive news reports based on the best available information at the time of publication. We make every effort to promptly correct any errors that come to our attention. As a digital platform, we address corrections through updates on our website, social media channels, or by publishing an editor’s note detailing the error and the corrections made. For significant mistakes that may have spread misinformation, we promptly issue an apology to our readers.

Updating a Report

Whenever we update a story, we include a note to indicate the changes. Corrections, clarifications, or editor’s notes are used to inform readers about significant errors or updates, such as adding comments or new information from stakeholders. If any factual error occurs during our fact-checking process (in accordance with our Fact-Check Policy), we update the article and include a bold note at the top: “[Correction: updated information…]” with an explanation of the correction. We encourage our readers to report any inaccuracies by emailing us, and we also provide a “Suggest A Correction” option at the end of every article.

Corrections

If an article, photo caption, headline, graphic, video, or other material requires substantial correction, we promptly publish a note explaining the error and the changes made.

Clarification

When our reporting is factually correct but the language is unclear or could be improved, we revise the language and include a clarification. Clarifications are also used when we initially fail to seek a comment or response, which is later added to the story, or when new information changes our understanding of the event.

Editor’s Notes

If a correction significantly affects the substance of an article or raises an ethical concern, an editor’s note is published, explaining the issue. A senior editor must approve the inclusion of an editor’s note.

Social Media Corrections

If we publish incorrect information on social media platforms, we correct it on the same platform. If it cannot be altered, we retract the incorrect information.

Reader-Suggested Corrections

If a reader identifies an error and posts it in the comment section, our community engagement team acknowledges the correction and notes that it has been fixed. We do not assign blame to individual reporters or editors (e.g., “due to a reporting error” or “due to an editing error”).

Reporting Inaccuracies

If you believe that any content we have published is inaccurate, please use the “Suggest A Correction” option at the end of the web story or contact us.

Take-down Requests

As part of our editorial policy, we do not generally accommodate take-down requests. If someone claims that a story is inaccurate, we will investigate and, if necessary, correct the content. However, we do not remove articles as if they were never published.

In rare cases where fairness demands an update or follow-up on previous coverage, we will consider additional editorial action, but we maintain the integrity of the original story. We review take-down requests related to publicly available personal data only if the person involved faces a threat of physical harm due to the material’s existence.
